Welcome to The Hotel Sturgis
The Only Boutique Hotel & Coffee Shop
on Sturgis Main Street
"We stayed at the Hotel Sturgis and were incredibly pleased with this delightful little gem in Sturgis, S.D. We would have been happy to stay several more nights! The decor and furnishings are quite lovely - beds-super comfortable - incredible towels! Nice, comfy public spaces for reading or enjoying a cup of coffee. We would definitely stay here again - perhaps even plan a trip to be able to pass through! Best wishes to this lovely historic, treasure of a spot."

Peek into our rooms and our past
“Why are there two dates on the cornerstone?“ is a question we asked and heard asked many times when the thought to convert the old “JC Penney” into a hotel was first bouncing around. It turns out the building which is now the Hotel Sturgis, has an interesting past. The original building, known as Benevolent Hall, was built in 1892. The main floor was a retail store and store room while the second floor served as a meeting place for lodges and “secret orders.” The Benevolent Hall succumbed to a fire in March of 1906 and was torn down. The new cornerstone for the Benevolent Hall was laid later in 1906. Since completed it has been home to a hardware store, a JC Penney, and C & D Sales, and now the Hotel Sturgis.
